Five o'clock Alarm
Somehow, I awoke just before I heard the unmistakable sound of a crashing tree. Five am. The rain didn't seem that strong. Could have been wind. Saw two flashlights running around next door. Not on the properties. Anyway – here's the victim. Largest girth in Soggy Bottom.
But it was just a branch.
Would qualify as a tree.
The old guy isn't the tallest. These are. Whatever they are.
This one's been around for awhile.
But the lord and King shall remain...
Your arm's off!
Tis merely a scratch.
Tis merely a scratch.

Fog Man Dango
Spooky Asteroid
These neighbors of mine (at long last identified as a Groove-billed Ani) have little fear of man or weed whackers when there are insects to be found. Four of them followed a few feet away while I mowed the yard.
V: Where was the bird when he landed on the branch?
M: On the branch?
V: That was after he landed.
M: In the air.
V: That was before he landed.
V: That was before he landed.
I asked Señor Ani if he could showcase his wings for me. I'm telling ya – human-friendly.

I have all the right ingredients. It's been raining lightly for 24 hours. It's the weekend and there's no place like home. We have sustenance, ambience and unidentified flying objects. I haven't seen either of these tipos before and they show up the same day. Migratory? On the equator?
I swear on Ma Libassi's grave that these are "as shot".
