Journeying to the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve at Lago Agrio, Ecuador required a one-hour taxi ride, then a flight from southern to northern Ecuador followed by a 7-hour bus trip, then 2 hours further in a van to a boat landing on the target river. From there, it's only 3 hours by canoe to the reserve.
It was so worth it.
Bamboo Lodge.
Cuyabeno is located in a national forest at the northeast corner of Ecuador where the border meets Columbia and Peru. The landscape is amazon jungle, rivers and lagoons. We dropped in altitude from 1600M (5200 ft.) to 250M (800 ft). Note the circular image on the map
Monkeys outside our window.
Much of our 3-day expedition
was spent in a canoe.

We stopped at a village of the Sionna tribe
where Olga showed us how to uproot yuca

in less than an hour.
Stay tuned for the coming video.
