Another Top of the World

In the Andes, a saunter down the road is always exhilarating. On a recent walk, a trail leading from a rustic gate caught my attention. After Willow and I perused the lower trails, I said, "I'm going to the top."
Twenty minutes later, I was looking across a valley featuring amazing mountains hidden from our casa.

I descended faster than I climbed and told Willow (serenely waiting at the bottom), "We have to go back with the camera as soon as possible." Willow replies, "Let's go now." We retrieved the Nikon and retraced my steps. The evidence follows.

From this peak, our valley of residence looks like this:

Walk this way. No, no. This way.

From the road, this is the peak we call El Capitan.

New territory. Always exciting.

This is a side view of Capitan.
Looks like he lost a few million tons.

The Andes seem to go on forever
in all directions.

Imagining how all this happened is what I do.

Come a little closer. Closer...

A modest peak but, let's walk around it.

😮
You can see glimpses of this cliff as you drive down the valley
but we had no idea it was all one piece of real estate.

See you on the next expedition.
