The Vilca hiking troupe set out for the mountains just east of the city of Loja. The goal was a sweet mountain lake at the top. A first for me would be to see an Ecuadorian fish that wasn't in the confines of a restaurant or market.
We met Diego, our guido, in Loja
and took a minibus to the trail.

conquering this mountain. I was starving!
